What Paint Correction Actually Changes

Paint correction works on the clear coat, not the paint underneath it. That clear coat is what gives your vehicle its shine and its first line of defense against sun, grit, and everyday driving. Over time, fine scratches accumulate in that layer, scattering light and creating the hazy look that shows up on vehicles of nearly any age. 

What Correction Can and Cannot Fix 

Our process combines decontamination, compounding, and polishing to refine that surface. Correction is highly effective on swirl marks, light to moderate scratching, water spot etching, and oxidation. Deep scratches that have penetrated through the clear coat and into the paint itself may not be fully eliminated, and we will point that out clearly during your consultation rather than promise a result we cannot deliver.

Standard Correction is a great fit for vehicles with light swirling or a finish that has simply lost some of its clarity. A single stage of polishing lifts a meaningful amount of surface haze and is finished with a protective sealant.

Premium Correction is our mid level service, built for vehicles with more noticeable swirling or a finish that has gone longer without proper care. A two stage compound and polish process, paired with minor wet sanding where needed, reaches further into the surface before the final polish brings everything to a high gloss finish.

Ultimate Correction is our most thorough service, reserved for vehicles where perfection is the only acceptable standard. A three stage cutting, polishing, and jeweling process paired with a full vehicle wet sand achieves the deepest level of refinement we offer.

Pairing Correction with a Ceramic Coating

Paint correction and a ceramic coating work well together. Correction clears away surface imperfections first, and the coating locks in that improved clarity with added gloss and easier maintenance going forward. We always recommend addressing correction before coating if long term clarity is the goal, since a coating applied over uncorrected paint simply seals in whatever imperfections were already there. A corrected surface also allows the coating to bond more evenly across every panel, which affects how the gloss looks on day one and how well it holds up over the years that follow. Many of our clients choose to schedule both services back to back, so the vehicle leaves our shop with a finish that is both refined and protected in a single visit.

Your Paint Correction Consultation

Every correction begins with an inspection of your paint under proper lighting, so we can identify the specific defects present and recommend the level that will address them. We will walk you through what each stage of the process involves, what kind of improvement is realistic for your vehicle, and how long the work will take before any polishing begins. That upfront conversation helps make sure the package you choose actually matches the condition of your paint. Paint Correction FAQs

  • Will paint correction remove every scratch on my vehicle?

    Deep scratches that have penetrated through the clear coat and into the paint itself may not be fully eliminated through correction. We assess your paint and set realistic expectations before any work begins. 

  • How long does paint correction take?

    Timing depends on the package and the current condition of your paint, ranging from about one day for Standard Correction up to three or four days for Ultimate Correction. 

  • Is paint correction safe for my clear coat?

    When performed with the right equipment and technique, correction refines the clear coat without compromising it. Our team takes a careful, methodical approach on every vehicle. 

  • Should I get paint correction before a ceramic coating?

    Correcting your paint first gives a coating a clean, even surface to bond to and helps the final result hold up better over time. We can walk you through combining both services during your consultation. 

  • What is the difference between the three correction levels?

    Standard Correction uses a single polishing stage for lighter defects, Premium Correction adds a second compound and polish stage with minor wet sanding, and Ultimate Correction uses a three stage process with a full vehicle wet sand for the deepest level of refinement. 

  • Will my paint need correction again in the future?

    New defects can form over time through normal driving and washing, so most vehicles benefit from periodic correction. Pairing your correction with a ceramic coating helps slow that process and extends the time between services. 

  • Do you correct paint on vehicles other than daily drivers?

    We regularly perform correction work on performance vehicles, including Corvettes, in addition to everyday drivers. Panel shape and paint condition are assessed the same way regardless of vehicle type.
